What is TCM Cupping

Cupping therapy is a traditional TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) technique that uses specially designed cups to create suction on the skin. This suction promotes blood flow, releases muscle tension, and helps rebalance the flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body. In Singapore, TCM cupping is widely used for pain relief, sports recovery, and overall wellness, and is often combined with acupuncture to enhance its therapeutic effects.

By stimulating circulation and drawing stagnant blood and toxins to the surface, cupping can address a wide range of health concerns — from muscular tightness and joint stiffness to stress, fatigue, and chronic inflammation. At Regis Wellness, our experienced TCMPB-registered practitioners tailor each cupping session to your condition, ensuring safe, effective, and comfortable treatment.

How Does TCM Cupping Work?

TCM Cupping works by restoring the balance of Qi (气) in the body, promoting healthy blood circulation, and easing muscle stiffness. The therapy involves placing specialised cups on the skin, typically on the back, shoulders, arms, stomach, or legs. These cups create suction, gently pulling the skin upward and stimulating the underlying tissues.

The benefits of TCM Cupping include:

  •  Improved circulation for faster healing and recovery
  •  Reduced muscle tension and stiffness
  •  Detoxification by stimulating lymphatic drainage
  •  Relief from chronic pain and inflammation
  •  Stress and fatigue reduction

Cupping therapy is often combined with Acupuncture to enhance its effectiveness by further aligning the flow of Qi in the body, leading to improved overall health and well-being.

TCM Cupping Treatments Available

Standard TCM Dry Cupping – A traditional suction-only method where cups are placed on specific areas to draw out stagnation, improve circulation, and release muscle tightness.

Sliding / Running Cupping – Oil is applied to the skin before the cups are placed and gently moved along the muscle lines. This technique combines the benefits of deep tissue massage with the circulatory boost of cupping, providing a soothing yet invigorating treatment.

Benefits of Cupping

When performed by skilled practitioners, cupping offers a wide range of therapeutic benefits that support both physical and mental well-being:

Natural Pain Relief – Reduces muscle soreness, joint pain, and tension by promoting deep tissue relaxation and stimulating the release of endorphins.

Improved Blood Flow – Enhances circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to tissues, which supports faster healing and reduces muscle stiffness.

Stimulated Recovery – Encourages the body’s natural healing response, ideal for sports injuries, post-workout recovery, and rehabilitation.

Reduced Inflammation – Helps alleviate swelling, ease chronic inflammatory conditions, and support overall healing capacity.

Detoxification & Removal of Dampness – Assists in clearing toxins, excess fluids, and metabolic waste from the body, improving organ function and vitality.

Boosted Immunity – Strengthens the immune system by enhancing lymphatic circulation and removing blockages in energy pathways.

Improved Skin Health – Promotes a natural, healthy glow, reduces acne, and alleviates skin conditions such as eczema through better circulation and detoxification.

Mental Clarity & Stress Relief – Balances Qi, calms the nervous system, reduces anxiety, and eases tension headaches, leaving you feeling more relaxed and focused.

Welcome to Regis Wellness TCM, where ancient healing practices meet modern care.

Today, we’ll be introducing one of our most cherished therapies: Moxibustion.

Moxibustion is a time-honoured technique in Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been used for centuries to promote health and well-being.

At Regis Wellness, we provide modern, smokeless moxibustion machines to offer a convenient, smoke-free and risk-reduced experience. By eliminating open flames, these machines help ensure a safe treatment while still delivering the same therapeutic benefits.

During a moxibustion session, our physicians use mugwort to gently warm and stimulate acupoints. This process enhances the flow of Qi—your body’s vital energy—improving circulation and supporting overall balance.

Moxibustion is renowned for addressing various conditions, including chronic pain, digestive issues, and gynecological concerns such as painful periods and infertility.

It is also a relaxing therapy that supports your body’s natural healing processes.

At Regis Wellness, we believe in a personalised approach to your health journey. Our physicians tailor each moxibustion session to meet your individual needs and goals.
