What is Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy?
Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy, also known as trigger point therapy, or Myofascial release therapy in short, is a therapy for myofascial pain.
‘Myo’ means muscle and ‘fascial’ means fascia, which is tissue connecting the muscles around your body. Myofascial pain is often caused by accidents (acute trauma injuries), sports injuries, muscle overuse, poor posture, repetitive occupational activities, or stress.
Myofascial release is a non-invasive, non-surgical, and risk-free therapy to relieve myofascial pain.
How Does Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy Work?
Unlike deep tissue massage which targets the deeper layers of your muscle and can be rather painful, Myofascial release therapy is a relaxing therapy targeting the fascia of various trigger points across your body. Trigger points are muscle knots that are stiff and tighter than normal muscles. Muscle knots cause muscle tightness and limit your range of motion.
Myofascial trigger point therapy massage trigger points to relieve the knots and return the affected tissues and muscles to their original state. Sometimes our physiotherapist may also use dry needling therapy, cold, and heat during your therapy for the best results.
What to Expect During Your Session
1. Initial Assessment & Consultation (10-15 minutes)
Your session begins with a consultation to assess your condition and identify areas of fascial tension or trigger points. A customised plan is developed to address your needs effectively.
2. Myofascial Release & Trigger Point Therapy (10-15 minutes)
Our therapists use a combination of gentle, sustained pressure and targeted techniques to release fascial tension and muscle knots. This approach enhances mobility, reduces stiffness, and alleviates pain.
3. Supportive Exercise Therapy (10-15 minutes)
After treatment, we guide you through light stretching and recovery exercises, offering advice on managing tension and maintaining long-term results.
Benefits of Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy

Common Conditions Treated

Acute musculoskeletal pain
Muscle strains, injuries, or overexertion, can cause localised or referred pain. Myofascial Therapy helps reduce pain, improve blood flow, and promote healing for Back Pain, Neck Pain, Knee Pain, Post-Surgical Pain, etc.

Chronic musculoskeletal pain
Effectively address trigger points that develop from stress, poor posture, overuse, or injury, leading to persistent pain and stiffness. Managing conditions such as Chronic Neck & Back Pain, Shoulder Stiffness & Frozen Shoulder, Repetitive Strain Injuries, etc.

Enhance mobility and prevent injury
Myofascial Therapy release muscle tightness and reducing adhesions in connective tissue. Beneficial for Athletes & Active Individuals, Office Workers with Poor Posture, Individuals with Limited Range of Motion, Chronic Pain Sufferers

Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) Relief
After intense physical activity, muscles may become sore and stiff due to microtears and inflammation. Myofascial Therapy helps alleviate DOMS by relaxing tight muscles, increasing circulation, and accelerating recovery for conditions such as Tennis Elbow, Golfer's Elbow, Runner's Knee, etc.

Myofascial Trigger Point Therapy aids in post-surgical recovery by breaking down scar tissue, improving circulation, and restoring muscle function, helping patients regain mobility and reduce pain.

Enhance Circulation & Reduce Stress
By promoting blood flow and releasing muscle tension, Myofascial Therapy not only relieves pain but also supports relaxation, reduces stress, and enhances overall well-being.
