What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial Release Therapy is a highly specialised form of manual therapy massage designed to relieve chronic pain, increase flexibility, and restore normal muscle and joint function. It targets the fascia—a connective tissue surrounding muscles—to release tension, reduce stiffness, and alleviate pain caused by injury, stress, or overuse.
If you experience persistent discomfort or tightness that limits your movement, our Myofascial Release Therapy can help you regain freedom and comfort.
How Does Myofascial Release Therapy Work?
Myofascial Release Therapy focuses on the fascia, a connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, and organs throughout the body. When fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can lead to pain, reduced movement, and dysfunction.
During the treatment, our trained physiotherapists use their hands to apply gentle, sustained pressure to the affected areas. By holding this pressure for an extended period, the fascia is encouraged to elongate, release tension, and restore its natural flexibility.
This process helps to:
- Break up adhesions (tight knots of connective tissue).
- Restore the proper alignment of muscles and joints.
- Stimulate blood flow, allowing nutrients to reach affected areas for healing.
- Reduce pain signals by relaxing the nervous system.
The treatment is gentle yet effective, and it is tailored to each individual's needs, with the therapist adjusting the pressure and duration to achieve optimal results.
